Both Lorin MacDowell and Harry Middleton are Big Spring natives
whose roots are deep in this cattle country.
|
John Damron, pictured with Lorin here, has been connected with cow culture
in Big Spring more than a half century.

Let's' call this one the crowd scene and not try to name anyone.

Sherriff Dale Walker assures me he was not called to quell any
riots, but was merely enjoying the exhibit and visiting.

Harry Middleton with another long time resident (native?), Robert
Ragan, who still rides in rodeos as he has for many years.

Quail Dobbs, retired but famous rodeo clown, wasn't really
hugging Ruth Cathey until the photographer asked for it, for
effect.

Wacey Cathey, fourteen times national finalist in
bull-riding, drives the Cadillac convertible to right.
Click on the Cadillac for a picture large enough to study the
bull skull adorning the grille. He earned the right to
sport this over twenty years of professional bull riding.
The Professional Bull Riders honored him since this event with
their Ring of Honor. Wacey and Quail Dobbs have also been
selected to be inducted into the Texas Rodeo Cowboy Hall of Fame
as well. |
